Our Niwot, Colorado gardens
(our former Colorado home)

In August, 2004, we sold our Colorado house. We lived there for about 13 years, and we really loved this house. We're now living in New Mexico, which, in time, I feel certain we will grow to love as much as we loved Colorado. I am going to leave these pages up, even though we no longer live there, since we are justifiably proud of the gardens and flowers you see here. I hope the new owners enjoy this house as much as we did--I think they will. I also hope you will enjoy this tour as much as I enjoyed putting it together!

Marian Noe (our gardener for hire, since Penelope moved to New Mexico) took these pictures of our Niwot, Colorado house and garden during May and June of 2004. All those years of gardening by Penelope, et al, really paid off, as you can see here! Thanks again, Marian, for these great pictures!

Front yard, now with lawn! We've owned this house for over 13 years, and put a lot of work into the garden. So, here's a short tour of them.

With the new lawn, the back yard still looks pretty much the same from a distance, but walking around the grounds, it looks much nicer than it has in recent years.

The Irises in full bloom. Many of these in this row were grown from bulblets given to us by our old friend and Iris expert, Kathrine Gesine Lohr.

Unfortunately, I don't know much about which ones are which, Iris variety-wise. They are all beautiful to me.

Multiflora and/or climbing rose varieties picked by Penelope are finally really going great guns the past couple of years. Too bad she moved, eh?

I seem to recall that this is one of the vintage (old) Iris varieties from Gesine.

Penelope tells me this Iris is known as "Gypsy Lady" from Long's Iris Gardens in Boulder, Colorado. Very delicate coloring.

Harrison's Yellow Rose makes a short but glorious massive display in the spring. Believe it or not--this year, pictured here, was an off year for the main display.
Garden_24
The Harrison's Yellow Rose keeps blooming all summer, after the big spring blooming event. This rose was brought west by the pioneers and is The Yellow Rose of Texas.
